Tin Tổng Hợp: Tưởng Niệm Ngày 30/4 Trên Hàng Không Mẫu Hạm USS Midway, San Diego

Sacrifice & Freedom in VietnamNgày 26-4-2015 tại USS Midway, San Diego, 10AM-3PM, “Tưởng Niệm 40 Năm Ngày Quốc Hận”, (Operation Frequent Wind 40th Anniversary), USS Midway, Trung Tâm Tây Nam (Tập Thể Chiến Sĩ VNCH Hải Ngoại) và nhiều hội đoàn trong cộng đồng Việt Nam. Một nghi lễ đặc biệt sẽ được cử hành từ 12:00PM đến 02:00PM gồm chào quốc kỳ Việt-Mỹ, đặt vòng hoa cho tử sĩ,và văn nghệ Việt Nam, sau đó là cuộc nói chuyện cuả những người tỵ nạn và cựu Hạm Trưởng USS Midway Larry Chambers, người đã cứu  thoát 3,000 người Việt di tản năm 1975.

Join us for a commemoration of Operation Frequent Wind and the Vietnamese culture, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The USS Midway rescued more than 3,000 refugees on April 30, 1975 during Operation Frequent Wind. A special ceremony will be held, 12 noon to 2 p.m., featuring Vietnamese entertainment, both national anthems, flag-raising, wreath ceremony, special refugee speakers, the 1975 USS Midway captain, Larry Chambers and the 1975 USS Midway air boss, Vern Jumper, sharing their personal stories and recognition of 1975 refugees and 1975 USS Midway crewmembers in attendance. Regular museum admission applies, with the ceremony and activities included. This is a great opportunity to meet refugees and many USS Midway sailors & officers.
Due to the popularity of this event we anticipate parking on Navy Pier to be sold out early. We encourage guests to consider public transportation, organize a private bus charter, or be informed of alternate parking routes.

On Sunday, April 26, 2015 the Midway is proud to host a day-long ceremony commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Operation Frequent Wind and the fall of Saigon. Large crowds likely will impact access to the Midway.  We may reach our occupancy limit and may have to stop or delay onsite ticket sales and admission.  We suggest guests interested in experiencing the museum April 25-26 might consider alternative dates, if possible.  Thank you for your understanding.

Schedule of Events*

During regular museum hours (10 a.m. – 5 p.m., last admission at 4 p.m.), help us tie nearly 60,000 yellow and black ribbons in honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. All ribbons will be tied on our flight deck fence. To be distributed by museum docents and other volunteers onboard Midway. $1 from every admission will be donated to local veterans’ service organizations. While supplies last.
